About
Welcome to the Soulcare Initiative, a trauma-informed approach to healing and wholeness that is centered in the goodness of our identity as image bearers of God, and grounded in story engagement as a means by which we experience life and freedom.
My name is James Tarring Cordrey, and I started the Soulcare Initiative to help men and women thrive. I have found that when we address how our past stories, particularly stories of harm, influence our present reality, we are able to flourish.
I bring my knowledge and experience gained through my own healing journey, as well as the training I received from completing all three levels of The Allender Center’s certificate program in Narrative Focused Trauma Care, to walk with men and women who are pursuing the restoration of shalom in their lives.
For more than 15 years, I have walked with men as they have taken the journey of recovery from compulsive sexual behavior issues, such as the use of pornography and sexual acting out. I have shared many sacred and beautiful moments with men as they have grown and found greater freedom and healing as they engage the core issues that fuel their behavior.
In the Narrative Focused Trauma Care certificate program, I gained skill and wisdom in understanding how trauma affects all of us, not merely those who struggle with sexual issues. My experience in that program expanded my imagination for how compassion for the wounded places within us opens possibilities for the repair of our souls.
I consider it an honor and a privilege to join with men and women as they courageously lean into the challenges of being kind to themselves, tending to their bodies, and nourishing their souls to become more fully who they are intended to be.
